Once you arrive in Las Vegas there are literally thousands of things to do, but if you’re a first time visitor, in all likelihood a lot of your time will simply be taken up by walking around the various hotels. This might sound a little mundane, but really it’s the equivalent of walking around any other city and taking in its famous sites. Our favourite things to see and do include:
The Hoover Dam ![]() | Further afield As a side note I should probably warn you that despite being one of the engineering feats of 20th century, Jacki was a little disappointed with the Hoover Dam as, and I quote; “It doesn’t look as big as it did in the Transformers movie.” There’s just no pleasing some people! On our first visit to Las Vegas we were fortunate enough to visit the Grand Canyon on a helicopter trip. Whilst this mode of transport isn’t the cheapest way of getting to the Grand Canyon, the big advantage is that you can be back at your hotel in around 4 hours and subsequently not waste any time you’ve already paid for back in Vegas. For those of you who would like to do some exploring a little further afield, Las Vegas is only a short plane ride from Los Angeles (1 hour) or San Francisco (1.5 hours) if you intend to do a multi-stop trip. Obviously when trying to arrange a multi-centre trip the logistics can get a little more complicated in terms of the flights, but most online travel sights provide you to input ‘multi-centre flight’ details. For what it’s worth, we can certainly vouch for San Francisco being a fantastic city to visit, so much so that we were contemplating going back for our honeymoon.
